Weekly Mission Report – Jan. 2nd

Hey Ya’ll,

This has been a great week. It has been crazy busy. We had 2 exchanges, a baptism, several meetings and a bunch of other stuff. First the baptism went so well. She has been waiting for a year to be baptized. She finally was able to do it on her 18th birthday this last week. So many people came to support her that we had to have the program in the chapel. There wasn’t even enough room in the room where the font was for everyone to watch her be baptized. The best part was that her parents came. They are against it, but no doubt that they felt the spirit!

We also met with an investigator this week who said that he would be baptized once he knows more and feels the conformation that this is what he needs to do. It’s amazing that he said that because when they started teaching him a little while ago he didn’t really believe in a God.

We also met with the stake president this week as a district to talk about some things we are trying to do in the area. He was super open to everything we talked about and gave us some great advice on how to be more effective in the area. He was really successful on his mission and so it was nice to hear what he did to be so successful. We have made plans as a district to try some of the things he talked about. One thing I really liked that he said was to ask people questions that really get them thinking. Such as, how do you come closer to God or how do you strengthen your relationships with your family. They are great questions that don’t make it sound like you are trying to convert them but just asking a general question that makes people think. Also, during this meeting he approved Spanish missionaries coming back into this area which would be huge for us. That was a huge blessing.

This last week we also had a member come up to us and ask if we would teach and baptize his two kids. He used to be less active and is now coming back and wanting his kids to be baptized. This week we will be starting that.

On Sunday, I woke up super sick and threw up several times. That was a party! At church I looked like a zombie from the walking dead. I was so out of it and looked like I was about to pass out. If you didn’t know any better you would have thought I had a bad hangover from new years eve. I looked ridiculous! It all worked out though and I feel great today!

Anyway, thank you all for your support. This should be a killer week! Have a great week ya’ll!

  1. Happy New Year, cute Elder Austin! I continue to love your weekly emails. I wish I could visit to see you and your companion in action. Unless you’re out chasing bears or alligators or something like that — I’ll pass on that! 🙂 I love you and you’re in all my prayers. And I’m proud of the great work you’re doing — I know it’s the spirit that inspires and testifies to people, but you are the instrument through which the spirit works. Love, Aunt Carol P.S. What would you know about hangovers, anyway??? :):)
