Weekly Mission Report – Sept. 26th

Hey Ya’ll,

Hope ya’ll have had a great week. This week has been pretty busy for us. We spent a lot of time this week finishing our family/member mission plan. It took a lot more work then we though but I think its going to be really good for the ward. We are excited to see how things go with it. We also had to prepare for Zone Training Meeting (ZTM) this week. It came together really well. I presented a power point to the missionaries about member missionary work. My companion talked more about it and made a list of ways missionaries and members can work more closely together. Our zone had been struggling a little bit as far as work but after ZTM things have improved a lot across the zone. That’s always exciting to see.

This week we decided that we wanted to do something called trailer park Wednesday. Its where we take some time and go knock trailer parks. You usually find a lot of humble people that are willing to listen. Also you get cool stories. We tried it this week and had one person ask us to come back. We also had some crazy dude come out and yell at us for 10 minutes about how he has lost all faith in God and then he shut the door in our face. The Bro was crazy!

This week we were doing service for a soup kitchen and they gave us lobster. It was so good! We boiled it up and dipped it in butter and garlic. We were eating like Kings. I don’t know what it is about this area but we have made some really good food here. I guess I’m trying to keep up with my Dad who always tells me about the amazing food he is making back at home. We are going to have to have a couple cook offs when I get home.

So, we have this guy in the ward who is pretty young. He gained a testimony of the Book of Mormon and promised the Lord to share it with people. So he goes tracting all the time on his own. He always sets us up with appointments with people that he has found and every time we go with him they don’t answer. It’s so sad and I feel so bad, but he never loses faith and just keeps trying. Its so cool though. I cant believe it. We are praying so hard that one of these people that he finds will stay interested and start to meet with us and him. I know that he would love that.

Its been a pretty good week though.  I hope ya’ll have a great week and thanks for all you do.

This is what you do when you have a trailer park that has a bad drug problem and you want to get rid of that stigma. You name it Happy Acres and paint all the trailers happy colors.

Weekly Mission Report – Sept. 19th

Hello Ya’ll,

This week has been a pretty good one. We went to Macon on Monday to receive some training from Elder Meurs and Elder Uceda.  It was awesome! They gave us some great council and taught us a lot of things that we can do to help the work. Pretty much the thing they talked about most was to work with and through members. That is where the most success is. Elder Uceda of the Seventy promised us that if as a mission we do this that we will see the baptisms in the mission double. That got everyone fired up! Its a big promise that we are all excited to see fulfilled. They also talked about changing how we do things. Whether its how we teach or study or anything. Just to change the way we do things and follow the spirit. It was an awesome meeting! We got to spend the night in the mission home which, was a blast! The next day we had a multi zone conference in Macon. Elder Uceda talked about receiving revelation. He sad it comes by silence, reverence, and then revelation comes. He talked about those three things a lot. Over all, it was a great meeting and we learned a lot.

Weekly Mission Report – Sept 12th

Hey Ya’ll,

This week has been pretty great. We received a referral this week from a member and this guy he referred us to is awesome! We met with him at a Mexican restaurant. He told us that he just wanted to know more about what we believe. He wanted to meet with us, more for information reasons rather than converting. He knew nothing about the church, so we started with the restoration. We taught him the whole thing and it was very spiritual. At least as spiritual as you can get eating tacos in a restaurant. By the end, he thought it was amazing. We had answered all the questions that he had had. He told us that he has changed his mind and now he wants to know more. He is now no longer interested for information purposes, but now he is interested in joining the church. It was amazing! It felt great to have a lesson like that. He asked us to teach the next lesson right there. Unfortunately, we didn’t have the time. We are suppose to meet with him again this week. We are super stoked for it!

We also had a luau this week that we got some investigators to. We have a lot of Polynesian’s in the ward here so they put on a luau every year. It was awesome! They had great food and dances. They cooked a pig in the ground. I had never seen that done before but it was awesome. Our investigators really enjoyed it too.

So, something I am known for in the mission by everyone who knows me is that I am very clean and organized. The investigator who was teaching us how to box has asked if we could come help him clean his back porch and backyard. After we had cleaned it I told him that if he wants it to look really nice, to let me put it all back and organize it. He has no idea how to organize so he let me do it. After I was done, he and his wife were so impressed that they invited us over for a BBQ that night. It was sweet! We didn’t have a dinner that night either so it worked out perfect. We had a good time that evening with them. They are really cool people.

That is about the extent of the week. Today and tomorrow we have meetings in Macon. A couple members of the Seventy are suppose to be there. We have to leave here soon to drive to Macon and meet them. I hope ya’ll have a great week.

Weekly Mission Report – Sept 6th

Hello Everybody,

This week has been a good one. I went on an exchange this week with a friend from my last area. It was awesome to hang with him again. We were pretty busy throughout the day but at the end of the day, we taught one of the best lessons I have taught my whole mission. We taught a guy named Torrance. We have met with him very few times and not much progression has happened. Well, I started to ask him questions about his family and we found out his kids may be Mormon and they live in Utah. They love the church. After that we asked what he has been taught so far. He said not much, so we taught him about the restoration. We really emphasized priesthood authority. Most people here don’t understand that. It is what makes our church true and different. Because we emphasized it so much, he understood all of it. He agreed with everything! My companion and I taught with a lot of power in that lesson. It was really neat. He agreed to read the Book of Mormon and study more. He said he would pray about it too.

Later in the week we had that tropical storm hit us. The whole world down here was freaking out about it. I couldn’t believe it. I understand trying to be prepared, but it was only a tropical storm. Of course, when it came, there was nothing to fear. It only rained all day and some wind blew small branches on the road. No damage, no flooding, nothing bad happened. It was funny to see everyone freak out though. My comp and I of course enjoyed the storm. They wouldn’t let us go out, so we ended up studying most of the day. It gets super boring when you have to stay in a house all day with nothing to do.

We also saw another investigator who showed us all his guns and taught us how to box……..well, sort of. It was a good time. For P-day we went fishing. We went to a pond that was way over stocked. We caught twelve fish in 30 min. We had to stop after that so we had time to clean all of them. They were all catfish. I cannot wait to eat them. Transfers are today. My comp and I will be staying together this transfer. I’m stoked about that! That was about the extent of the week though. It was pretty good and exciting. Hope ya’ll are doing well. Have a great week.
