Weekly Mission Report – April 25th

Hey Everybody,

This week has been great. It started out at our investigators house. He is a big time golfer. We went in his back yard and hit golf balls while we talked. He opened up a little to us and we ended up on the topic of Gods creations. We had a good discussion about that and he let us know that he is close to baptism. He feels like he just needs to read the Book of Mormon a little more. His time is limited though because he works a lot at a golf course. He is a cool guy and I’m glad he gets it. I probably wont be here to see him get baptized but he is making progress and the spirit was there as we talked.

This week we also got to help a less active we have been trying to get in contact with. He needed help with a rock climbing gym that him and some others are building. It looks sweet! We just helped with a lot of clean up but it was so cool to see it being built. I kind of have a dream of doing something similar to this. I was surprised how much goes into the building of the place. For helping, they are going to give us a few free day passes.

Another sweet thing we got to do was help out with the activity day girls. We played mission jeopardy with them. They loved it and had tons of fun. Afterward, they each gave us letters for different types of days that we have. I am surprised with how much they know about a mission and how well they right. They are super nice.

We met a girl this week that was a media referral. It said that she had been taught all the lessons and wants to be baptized. Its true too! She has been taught all the lessons and does want to be baptized. It’s awesome, but she has some issues that she is dealing with and then when we went to church she decided to be taught by sisters. It makes sense, but it was a bummer to lose her as an investigator because she was solid.

The best part of the whole week though was last night. We had a priesthood meeting and I got two less actives to come and one has not been to church in many years. I was super excited about it. He shared some amazing things and felt the spirit. It was awesome! I was so happy to see him there. We talked a lot about repentance and he has some things that he is working on and it was amazing to hear his testimony and to see him feel the spirit. We talked a lot about how you use the atonement and repentance. Anyway, it was cool to see and I was glad we could help him.

I hope all of ya’ll have had as great of week or even better. Transfers is coming up in a week and Saturday I find out if I am leaving. I will keep you posted next Monday. Enjoy your week. Thanks ya’ll.

Weekly Mission Report – April 18th

Hello Everybody,

This week has been great. It started out last Monday with mountain biking. It was amazing! It felt so good to get back on the trails. I almost hit a couple trees, but it went great. I never crashed which really surprised me. Tuesday I was on exchanges with Elder Gillins. He is the other missionary here that I talk a lot about and do a lot with. We cooked some steaks again and this time we cooked them way to long. The were well, well done. I would definitely take raw steaks over that. It did not taste very good.

Thursday was a cool day for us. Mostly because of how it ended. We were trying to contact some people who we tracted into last week and we came up on some people having a bible study. They invited us to join and it went awesome. They asked lots of questions that we could answer really well. The spirit was very strong. Two of the four you could see were really getting it. Then, Joseph Smith was brought up and the other two started to argue against him. From that point on the spirit was gone and you could feel a total difference in the room. It was really disappointing. We didn’t get to ever talk to the other two who seemed interested unfortunately. It was still a cool experience though.

The next day I made a bloomin’ onion again and this time it turned out right. The last couple times I was doing it wrong. I have finally got it though. The next day we helped a guy paint his house. I have learned a lot of these kind of skills in this area. It has been nice. Today we went golfing. We golfed Bartram Trail Golf Club and I did terrible. It was my first time ever golfing and I scored a 118. It was embarrassing! I cant tell you how many times I would hit the top of the ball and it would roll a couple yards. I was also swinging to hard. It was fun though. That was the extent of my week. It was full of adventure and fun! I hope ya’ll have a great week. Thank you for your support.

Weekly Mission Report – April 11th

Hello Everyone,

Hope ya’lls week has been great. This week has been a little more dull then the past couple but it has still been good. We helped a guy sheet rock some. I have learned a lot about that and feel ready to build a house! Just kidding, not that ready, but I could build half a house. We also helped a lady stack up a hug pile of limbs and this week we should be going over there to burn them. It will be a massive fire!

We went out tracting a lot this week. That can be fun and it can be really long and boring. This week was pretty fun. We met a preacher and introduced “just serve” to him. We found two people who told us we could come back and tell them more. That’s always good! We have been struggling to find that. Something funny happened while we were tracting but I cant remember what it was. It happens a lot where you are at a door and one of you says something really stupid and you try not to laugh until you are walking away. That definitely happened this week.

We were at dinner one day and we walked out side and my companions tire was flat. The people we ate with didn’t have a pump and they had to go. So we had to walk to an investigators house forever away to get a pump. We finally fixed his tire today. His bike has been having this problem for a long time now. He has to pump it up at least twice a day. We shouldn’t have to worry about it anymore. Today should be an awesome day because we have an investigator taking us mountain biking. I am super excited! It has been so long since I have been.

I was reading in 2 Nephi 4 and I really loved Nephi’s Psalm. It was really cool and I love when he talks about trusting in the Lord. I have been thinking about that a lot lately. It is very true if you just do your best and trust in the Lord, then you can know the outcome will be alright. Even if it seems bad, everything we go through is to help us. That has given me some comfort. Just thought I would share that. Trusting in the Lord helps give hope to everything.

I love you guys and thank you so much for all of your support. It helps me a lot. Have a fantastic week.

Weekly Mission Report – April 4th

Hey Everyone,

This week has been great! I thought it couldn’t beat the week before, but it turned out great. We started out by helping a guy take a bunch of wood to the dump. We were a little worried about snakes as we were picking up the wood but we didn’t see any except small garden snakes. They don’t bite……..I think?! We picked a few up and they seemed “ok” with it.

We hit up one of our investigators this week that needed help installing some fans. Little back story with this guy is he is going to school and studying psychology. After we helped him he let us try these cool glasses he bought for his study’s. They have headphones and then the glasses have blue lights that flash. You listen to soothing motivational talks while the lights flash to the talk. It relaxes you like crazy! I dropped my head a few times. I would go over there and do it everyday if i could. They kind of look like space googles.

We had some good luck this week with a new investigator. We met with her twice and she is kinda interested in baptism. She has been super open to what we have to teach. She has heard a lot of bad things about us but as she has gotten to know us she has changed her view.

We got to fish twice this week. The first time I caught 3……they all got away. The second time we went, I tangled the line twice and got my hook stuck in a tree. I spent more time fixing my pole then fishing, BUT……I caught a fish at the end of the day. Finally!! I have been waiting so long. It was the tiniest large mouth bass I have ever seen, but none the less, I still caught a fish. My luck is turning ya’ll. Next time I will get one that I can eat. Another missionary and I also found a goose nest with the mom sitting in it. The dad was in the water nearby. We were terrible and messed with them. We almost got attacked! They hissed at us and started flapping their wings. We thought we might die! After that I guess the missionary I was with and I had some adrenaline and aggression in us so we decided to have a slap off. We kept slapping each other in the face until the other guy said quit. Then I got to hit him one more time. I saved the best slap for last and hit him so hard. His face turned purple. It was so funny!

The highlight of the week of course was conference. We got fed a ton. I feel so fat. I loved Elder Nelsons talk during priesthood. He talked about being worthy of the priesthood. Another person talked also about always being worthy of a temple recommend. I thought about this a lot and really like the idea of having something to be worthy of. If we can always be worthy of a temple recommend and the priesthood then we can be assured that blessings will come. I am grateful that I made the choice to come on the mission where I can see the blessings of living worthily. I wasn’t sure how much I would really like this mission thing, but it has taught me things that i would not have learned otherwise. From the mission I have figured out why I am here, what I want for my life, and why I want to be worthy of the priesthood. I hope conference was great for all of you. I loved the sister who spoke in the first session on Sunday who threw it down. She was very bold about what we believe and because of my mission I can say I believe it too! The mission has been very cool. I am grateful for all of you who have supported me. Thank you and have a great week!
